The planning area is also an important part of Józsefváros from a historical, cultural, townscape and functional point of view.
The space is divided into several functional units:
- In front of the church, the green space, originally surrounded by a low fence, is evoked as a central ornamental green space. The statue in the centre of the raised green box is surrounded by a grassy parterre, which can be accessed by steps from the church. On the side of the stairs facing the statue is a flower bed.
- A promenade will be created parallel to the northern building line, providing a suitable lobby and access for the hotel, and an outlet for the new development and restaurants on the ground floor of the existing buildings.
- New planters will be installed between the promenade and the church lobby, providing space for the added tree line, transforming the space into a shaded resting area.
- A single perpendicular parking space has been designed on the north side of the church.
A new planter will be placed at the boundary of the promenade and the square, bordered by a raised border on the promenade and a seating wall on the sculpture. In the church lobby, a larger continuous paved area has been created for church events. The pavement will be paved in paving stones along the entire length of the pavement and the asphalt wearing course will be replaced on the east side of the church (pedestrian crossing). Three sections (at the pedestrian crossing, at the mouth of the German Street and in front of the church) will be rebuilt. An existing tree line runs alongside the church, for which a tree protection plan is being prepared. The trees will be planted in expanded cassettes with shrubs and in a tree-lined trellis.
